21 Days Of Baby-Toddler Summer Fun

Day 4: Unpack A Bag

If you are in desperate need of 5 to 10 minutes to yourself, or to get something else accomplished besides wiping butt’s, I’ve got the perfect activity to keep your Baby Toddler distracted. On today’s edition of 21 Days of Baby-Toddler Summer Fun, we’re sparking curiosity in our children’s minds, enhancing their motor skills, and we’re taking a few minutes to breathe.

Materials Needed:

Old book bag or hand bag

Makeup bags

Empty / clean travel containers

Hair brushes / makeup brushes

Small Toys

A jewelry gift box

Old gift cards / store cards

Hair Accessories

Baby wipes

Water bottle

Today’s fun is brought to you by Mama’s “Me Time.”

If you have a little sucker that is curious about what you are carrying around in your purse or baby bag, then this is the activity for you. Your tiny little bag wrecker can have a bag of their own to tear apart and you can get a few minutes to make a phone call. Feel free to ignore them while you scroll through twitter. Just make sure that everything that you put into the bag is safe for baby. You ride this wave guilt free, Mama.

Set Up

To set this activity up, put any old gift cards or store value cards into a make up bag. Set it up how you would a small wallet or wristlet. Next, place hair accessories, empty travel containers, a small brush and unused makeup brushes in another makeup bag. If your little one has not mastered zippers yet, leave these unzipped and place them in the larger bag. Next, place a small, non-choking toy in a jewelry gift box and place that in the bag. You can use your creativity to think of other compartments your little one can dig through. Set it up with an almost empty container of baby wipes, a water bottle, their toy phone and keys, and boom. Baby’s got a brand new bag.

Release The Tots

Place that sucker down in front of your curious tiny tot and go ahead and sit down and put on that Netflix show you’ve been trying to watch all day. Need to get some cleaning done, you can do that too, I guess. What ever you need. You have 5 to 10 minutes to get it done so come up with your plan, fast and hurry!

What To Expect

Your child will have a grand time throwing junk all over the living room floor, that of course you are going to have to clean up, but at least you get to check something off your to-do list. Yes, pouring yourself a glass of wine is on that list. Check it off sister!

Finishing Up

After your toddler terrorizes the living room floor, they’ll dart to the next thing they can destroy and you can sip your Merlot while you shove that shit back into the bag. Leave it there for another peaceful ten minutes. It’s a gift that keeps on giving, as long as you are okay with picking it up over and over again. Then again, that’s parenthood my friend. You’re welcome.

I would love to hear how your Unpack A Bag went. Drop your funny but realistic stories below in the comments.
