Today’s fun is brought to you by the ABC’s of stuck.

That’s alphabetical magnets sticking to everything. This activity is perfect to enjoy while you sip on your hot coffee, wipe down the counters, or wash the dishes. Your tiny tod can have a blast while they entertain themselves. Feel free to watch on with your camera ready or scroll through twitter. Whatever floats your magnet.

Set Up

To set up this activity, place a few metal objects around the kitchen. You can use old cookie sheets, metal buckets, spoons, old decor, stirring pots, etc. Place them throughout the kitchen and make a trail through the house. Place the magnets on the refrigerator and a few  on each metal object.

Unleash The Toddler.

Spend a few moments un-sticking and sticking the magnets from the refrigerator to the metal objects. This will give your babe-tod a few minutes to get the gist of the game. Give her/him a kiss and set them free.

What To Expect

They’ll discover the pure joy of sticking their magnets to different things throughout the house. This fun game will entertain them long enough for you to check in on your twitter crush, read an email or two, shove a cookie in your face hole while they are not looking, and pour yourself another cup of coffee.

Feeling a bit sanctimonious? Take a break from your self indulgence and hand your ba-tod magnets while you say the color and letter. It’ll give you some bragging material at your next play date. Mom, you’re nailing it. Now go reward yourself with another cookie to the face, you Queen, you!

There’s a slight chance your child may not be interested. I am not a professional, I only have one child. I give you no promises, just ideas. If this doesn’t work, forget it and throw your kid some goldfish. Shut it, Karen!

There’s also a slight chance that your ba-tod is going to chuck all the letters under the refrigerator and couch. In that case, this has become a motivational push to clean up the dust bunnies. Or! Big emphasis on or here, you can turn it into a scavenger hunt! Whala, a new activity and it’s only the first day. Man, now I’m nailing it!

Finishing Up

Yes, you’re going to have to clean this all up afterwards! Sorry about that, but at least you get 5 minutes to experience what hot coffee is like. You’re welcome. I am here for you! Now go take a nap, because you deserve it. Oh you can’t? Again, not a professional.

I would love to hear how your Fun With Magnets turned out. Drop your funny but realistic stories below in the comments.
